Therapeutic play for children in Tengah
Children often show what they feel long before they can say it. Therapeutic play gives a child a safe, accepting space to work through worries and big feelings through play, at their own pace.
Sessions are delivered by our trainee therapeutic play practitioner, who is completing her PTUK/PTI-accredited certification under external clinical supervision. We explain what this means, and our fees, before you book.
Who it helps
- Worries, anxiety or big feelings
- Changes at home or school: a new sibling, a move, a separation, a new school
- Children who find it hard to talk about how they feel
- Mild to moderate social, emotional or behavioural challenges
What a session looks like
Sessions are one-to-one and child-led, in one of our therapy rooms with toys and art materials chosen to let your child express themselves. The practitioner follows rather than directs, giving your child room to work through what is on their mind in their own way.
Therapeutic play sits alongside our clinical services rather than replacing them. If we think your child would also benefit from an assessment or therapy with one of our clinicians, we'll tell you, and it all happens under one roof.
Therapeutic play and play therapy
Parents often search for this as play therapy. The two are closely related: both use child-led play to help children express and work through feelings. Play therapy is delivered by a certified play therapist after longer training. What we offer is therapeutic play, delivered by a trainee practitioner under external clinical supervision. We'll help you decide whether it fits your child.
