What the public route offers
Access is through a referral from a polyclinic, GP or paediatrician to a hospital child development service. Fees are means-tested and subsidised for Singapore citizens and permanent residents, and the clinicians are experienced. For many children this is exactly the right place to start.
When public is the right call
Your child is eligible for EIPIC or a similar programme. A paediatrician is already managing your child’s care and has made a referral. Cost is the main constraint for your family. Or you simply want a public assessment on record first. In all of these cases, go public, and come back to us only if you need something in the meantime.
What families tell us made them look privately
Two things come up most often. Waits from referral to a first appointment can run several months. And once therapy starts, public sessions are often spaced out rather than weekly, which makes it hard to build the intensity that many children benefit from. Neither is a criticism of the public system. They are the reasons families give us for wanting something now.
Where we fit
Weekly sessions, starting this week, in a purpose-built sensory gym in Tengah. Something to do while you wait for a public slot. A second opinion. Or, for some families, the whole plan. The free discovery call is where we work out which. We will give you our honest read, including telling you to keep your public appointment.
This guide is general information for parents, not medical advice. Eligibility for public programmes and subsidies changes; please check with your polyclinic, paediatrician or the relevant agency for current criteria.
